Chief Executive Officer
Garry Rogerson joined Advanced Energy as CEO in August 2011. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Coherent, Inc. since June 2007. Mr. Rogerson was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Varian, Inc., a major supplier of scientific instruments and consumable laboratory supplies, vacuum products and services, from February 2009 and 2004, respectively, until the purchase of Varian by Agilent Technologies, Inc. in May 2010. Mr. Rogerson served as Varian’s Chief Operating Officer from 2002 to 2004, as Senior Vice President, Scientific Instruments from 2001 to 2002, and as Vice President, Analytical Instruments from 1999 to 2001.
Mr. Rogerson received an honors degree and PhD in biochemistry from the University of Kent at Canterbury.

Yuval Wasserman |
President, Thin Films Business Unit
Yuval Wasserman joined Advanced Energy in August 2007, bringing 24 years of executive, management, and technical experience in the semiconductor industry. Immediately prior to joining AE, Mr. Wasserman served as the president and CEO of Tevet Process Control Technologies, Inc., where he led the development and growth of the company. Prior to that, he held senior executive and general management positions at Boxer Cross (metrology company: acquired by Applied Materials, Inc.), Fusion Systems (plasma strip: a division of Axcelis Technologies, Inc.), and AG Associates (RTP). Mr. Wasserman started his career at National Semiconductor, where he held various process engineering and management positions.
Mr. Wasserman earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Ben Gurion University in Israel and studied business at the AEA/Stanford University Executive Institute.

Danny Herron |
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Danny C. Herron joined Advanced Energy in September 2010 with more than 25 years’ tenure in finance and operations in the renewable energy and consumer product sectors. Prior to serving at Advanced Energy, Mr. Herron held the position of chief financial officer for Sundrop Fuels, Inc., a solar gasification-based renewable fuels company based in Louisville, Colorado. He also previously served as president and chief financial officer of VeraSun, a publicly-traded corn-based ethanol company; chief financial officer of the $10 billion beef and pork producer Swift & Company; and chief financial officer of an $8.5 billion international division at ConAgra Foods, Inc.
Mr. Herron holds a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from Valdosta State University and a master’s in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University.

Gordon Tredger |
Executive Vice President, AE Solar Energy Gordon Tredger joined Advanced Energy in December 2011, bringing nearly 25 years of technology management experience to the Solar Energy division. He served most recently as executive vice president of operations at the Chemical Analysis Division of Bruker Daltonics, a leading provider of high-performance scientific instruments and solutions, and as vice president of analytical instruments at Varian Inc., a leading worldwide supplier of scientific instrumentation. Mr. Tredger held prior executive roles at Argonaut Technologies, Perkin-Elmer Instruments, and at Photovac (acquired by Perkin-Elmer). Mr. Tredger received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto, in Ontario, Canada.

Tom McGimpsey |
Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel
Tom McGimpsey joined Advanced Energy in April 2009, bringing nearly 25 years of a combination of senior executive, corporate M&A, and legal talent and expertise. Mr. McGimpsey has been involved in nearly every aspect of corporate and business development, M&A, IPOs, reorganizations, international negotiations and ventures, and corporate law. Prior to joining Advanced Energy, Mr. McGimpsey held the positions of vice president of operations at First Data Corporation, executive vice president of business development & general counsel at McDATA Corporation, vice president of corporate development at McDATA Corporation, director/SEC attorney at US WEST, corporate attorney with several national law firms, and a senior engineer at Software Technology. Mr. McGimpsey has been a board member of numerous foreign affiliates throughout Europe and Asia for the last 12 years.
Mr. McGimpsey holds a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from Colorado State University (with honors), a juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado, and a bachelor of science degree in computer science with a minor in electrical systems from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Mr. McGimpsey also successfully completed the executive M&A program at Harvard Business School.

Randall S. Hester |
Executive Vice President, Human Resources
Randall C. Hester joined Advanced Energy in 2009 as its vice president of human resources. Mr. Hester has over 25 years of experience managing human resources functions in international telecommunications companies such as Level 3 Communications and MFS Communications, as well as in manufacturing with Kärcher, Lindsay Corporation, and Zenith Electronics.
Over his career, Mr. Hester has led all phases of the human resources function, including HR strategy, executive coaching, employee relations, talent acquisition & management, compensation & benefits, human resource information systems, international assignments, mergers & acquisitions, training, and organizational development. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Iowa and a master of science degree in human resource management from Loyola University – Chicago.

Frederick A. Ball currently serves as chief financial officer for Webroot, a software security company. He is also a member of the board of directors of Electro Scientific Industries, a provider of photonic and laser systems for micro-engineering applications, and serves as a member of their audit committee. Mr. Ball's past positions include senior vice president and chief financial officer of Big Band Networks, a provider of network platforms for broadband multimedia services. He also held various executive positions at Borland Software Corporation, a provider of enterprise software development solutions, including chief financial officer and executive vice president of corporate development and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Mr. Ball worked at KLA-Tencor Corporation, a manufacturer of semiconductor equipment, where he served as vice president, mergers and acquisitions, and vice president of finance. Mr. Ball holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and spent 11 years as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Richard P. Beck joined Advanced Energy in March 1992 as vice president and chief financial officer and became senior vice president in February 1998. He became a director of Advanced Energy in September 1995. In October 2001, Mr. Beck retired as chief financial officer but remained a senior vice president until June 2002. Mr. Beck is chairman of the board of Applied Films Corporation, a publicly held manufacturer of flat panel display equipment. He is also a director of TTM, Inc., a publicly held manufacturer of printed circuit boards, and serves as chairman of its audit committee.

Trung T. Doan

Mr. Doan is currently the Chairman and CEO of SemiLEDs Corporation. Mr. Doan held various management and executive positions at companies such as Intel, Honeywell and Micron where he had worked from 1988 to 2003 with the last position as Vice President of Process Development. Earlier, he served as President and CEO of Jusung Engineering, Inc., a major semiconductor/LCD equipment company in Korea. Prior to founding SemiLEDs, Mr. Doan was the Corporate Vice President of Applied Global Services (AGS) product group at Applied Materials.
Mr. Doan graduated from University of California with a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering with honors. In 1981 after Mr. Doan received a master of science degree in chemical engineering, he worked for Intel and received Intel's 1983 Outstanding Technology Development Award. He is an inventor of more than 200 patents with many pending. He was named as one of the most prolific inventors from 1988 to 1998 and was published by the U.S. patent office. Mr. Doan previously served on the Advanced Energy Board of Directors from July 2000 until January 2004.

Edward C. Grady joined the board of directors of Advanced Energy in May 2008. From February 2003 until his retirement in October 2007, Mr. Grady was the president and chief executive officer of Brooks Automation, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of automation solutions to the global semiconductor and related industries, and continues to serve as a senior executive consultant. Prior to joining Brooks, he was a partner at Propel Partners, a venture firm in Palo Alto, California. Prior to this, he ran several divisions at KLA-Tencor and helped to grow the business to a level in excess of $1 billion in revenues. Before KLA-Tencor, he served as president and CEO of Hoya Micro Mask for three years. He started his career as an engineer for Monsanto/MEMC, and during his 13 years with the company, rose to the position of vice president of worldwide sales for EPI, the most profitable division in MEMC. Mr. Grady currently serves on the board of directors of the following publicly held companies: Evergreen Solar, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of solar panels and other solar energy products; Verigy Ltd., a provider of automated test systems for the semiconductor industry; and Electro Scientific Industries, Inc., a supplier of production equipment for micro-engineering applications.

Terry Hudgens has been a special advisor to Iberdrola Renewables, Inc., a leading provider of renewable energy, since November 2008. From April 2007 until his retirement in November 2008, Mr. Hudgens served as president and chief executive officer of Iberdrola Renewables’ U.S. and Canadian energy businesses. Mr. Hudgens joined Iberdrola in connection with Iberdrola’s acquisition of PPM Energy, the U.S. subsidiary of Scottish Power plc, an electricity distributor and wind power producer, where he had served as president and chief executive officer since May 2001. Prior to joining PPM Energy, Mr. Hudgens served in various management and operations positions with a number of utilities and energy companies, including PacifiCorp and Texaco Inc.

Thomas M. Rohrs

Thomas M. Rohrs is currently chairman and chief executive officer of Electroglas, Inc., a supplier of wafer probing technologies to the semiconductor industry. Previously, he spent five years with Applied Materials, Inc., most recently as senior vice president of global operations, and was a member of its Executive Committee. He also has served as vice president of worldwide operations at Silicon Graphics and as senior vice president of manufacturing and customer service of MIPS Computer Systems. Mr. Rohrs also has worked in various manufacturing and operations positions at Hewlett-Packard Company. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Magma Design Automation, Inc., Ultra Clean Technology, and several private companies.
